Hey friends! My name is Bria… or Bee Bop… or just Bee. Honestly, I’ll respond to anything.

I run a cake and goodies shop called Bee Bop Sweet Shop, specializing in buttercream florals inspired by beautiful illustrations, beautiful colours, and all the things I see beauty in!

And a few years ago, I decided to shift full-time from graphic designing to designing cakes! I was able to use that same love of layering and colours to focus my art towards unique cakes… and celebrate people at the same time!

So the good news, my friends, is that you can totally do this too! With a few tools, some practice… and maybe a smidge of patience… I just know you are going to make some pretty amazing things.

What you’ll learn

  • There are a TON of cake tools out there that can sometimes make it hard to navigate what you really need to create a beautiful cake. We’re going to go through all the basics in this lesson and see exactly what each tool does and how it can work for you.

  • Oh my goodness friends, THIS is the buttercream you need in your life! In this lesson, I’m going to take you step-by-step through the entire process of making the perfect swiss meringue buttercream.

    This is the same recipe I perfected to frost all of my cakes and create all of my buttercream florals.

  • Did you ever wonder why that cake you just spent hours on didn’t rise? Or why every time you bake a cake it still comes out too dry?

    In this lesson we’re going to troubleshoot all those problems together! Learn the ins and outs from start to finish of putting together your ingredients, prepping your pans and what to look for in a perfectly baked cake.

  • I believe it was the great Beastie Boys that once said, “slow and low, that is the tempo.” They may have used a slightly different turntable, but believe it or not it’s the same with cakes!   • In this lesson, we are going to go from crumb coat to base coat, to get the cleanest coats you ever did see! I’ll give you all my tricks to keep that icing smooth for an absolutely flawless finish. And then we’ll walk through the best way to get that sharp edge finish that will blow your cake skills to the next level!

  • Did you ever wonder where to even start with decorating a cake? There’s SOO many ideas out there! In this lesson we’re going to concentrate on having fun and understanding the different methods and styles to create a tasty work of art.

    I’ll take you from piping tips to food colouring, and everything in between! And we’ll even pipe a Lambeth cake

  • There was SOO much I didn’t know when I started with my cake creations! Like, did you know there’s basically 3 different types of cakes? Or did you know there’s a handful of buttercream types besides american and swiss meringue buttercream?

    I’ve put together this guide for you that will really help you understand the fundamentals of a good cake and why it works!
